Several people have been promoted from within and across functions. The company is growing quickly and so there's lots of opportunity.

They sell the mission-driven business thing pretty hard, but it's clear from all-hands meetings and exec talks that revenue and growth are most important. It's still a feel-good place to work because the product does help a ton of people with their financial lives.

Very high growth means there's a ton of work to do. Taking time off means you'll have to play catchup when you return. This is just the nature of high-growth startups.

Self does a great job of addressing D&I issues head-on. The do/say all of the right things. The lose a star because their board and exec team are not very diverse and it seems to be a low priority to fix this.
